A série chama-se Building Planets: A series of nine compact science talks covering the time from the formation of our solar system to when the Earth became habitable.

Lindy Elkins-Tanton is a well-known scientist in the field of space exploration, with a career made between MIT, Carnegie Institution for Science, and more recently Arizona State University. She is also the author of a number of books, some of them presenting the Solar System for a general audience. She is the Principal Investigator of a mission of exploration of the Solar System, that will see a probe launched in 2022 on its way to a peculiar asteroid named Psyche, that seems to have a metal surface (though its density precludes the possibility of being a compact metal body). Sadly, she is only the second woman to occupy this position. And there is another asteroid named in her honour, 8252 Elkins-Tanton.

Recently, she made a series of online short presentations (around 20 minutes) on the history of the Solar System. Nine excellent moments, talking about several issues, with clear explanations, leaving aside the most intricate technicalities. Unfortunately, the q&a sessions that followed the presentations were not recorded, thus sending into oblivion the curious questions that were put by those that followed the series.

The series is called Building Planets: A series of nine compact science talks covering the time from the formation of our solar system to when the Earth became habitable.

It is freely available on the youtube channel of the ASU’s Interplanetary Initiative, starting here.

Naturally, the presentations were made in English.
