Esta semana, apresentamos a segunda parte do tema Mulheres na Ciência – testemunhos, contando com uma contribuição de Andreia Nunes.

Andreia é doutoranda na área da Sociologia, mas conta já com uma longa história de ativismo na área da Igualdade de Género. Um dos seus interesses prende-se com os estereótipos de género nos livros infantis, e foi sobre esse tema que fez uma apresentação no ainda recente Festival Science on Stage 2019, que teve lugar de 31 de outubro a 3 de novembro de 2019, no Centro de Congressos do Estoril, Cascais.

Apresentamos, abaixo, o registo em video dessa comunicação, intitulada “Mighty Valentina and the Power of Books”.

“Mighty Valentina” é o título em inglês do livro infantil “Valente Valentina“, da autoria de Andreia Nunes e com ilustrações de Rachel Caiano, e que conta uma história inspirada na primeira missão espacial tripulada por uma mulher: Valentina Tereshkova.

Part 2 – Women in Science – testimonials – Andreia Nunes

This week we present the second part of the theme “Women in Science – testimonials”, with a contribution by Andreia Nunes.

Andreia is working on her PhD in Sociology, and has a long story of activism in the field of Gender Equality. One of her interests is related to gender stereotypes in books for children, and that was the subject of a talk she gave at the recent Science on Stage Festival 2019, that took place from October 31st to November 3rd 2019, at Estoril Congress Center, Cascais.

Above, we present the video recording of that talk, with the title “Mighty Valentina and the Power of Books”.

“Mighty Valentina” is the title of an illustrated book by Andreia Nunes and with illustrations by Rachel Caiano, telling a story inspired on the first woman to go to space, the cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova.
